the press picked up a little bit, but used the occasion to retrash george w. bush for getting us into the war in the first place, you saw a lot of those clips. so, it was kind of a no-win situation for obama. it wasn't ever his issue. he had to be careful not to be triumphant and have another mission accomplished moment and i think the press didn't really know what to make of it. >> there was the sort of weird turn where he starts talking about the economy. i guess, taking a war speech and turning it into, you know, i feel your pain, was that reflected in the coverage? >> well, yeah, because i think that most people found it almost a little strange that he was even giving this address for precisely the reasons that were just outlined and also because most americans frankly don't want to hear about the iraq war and are concerned about the economy, they want to hear about the economy, they want to know what he's doing to fix it and i think that most people feel like if he's going to be addressing americans, he should be talking about that. >> judy miller who fits on the panel frequently

on with bc's taper this week, and using a lot of the same rhetoric that he had used on the campaign trail. did you notice th dt? >> i did, tapper asked a very good question. saying that the healthcare bill is bending the cost curve down. according to the center for medicaid services, the increoase is said to go up. bending the curve upward. hy areen the question, w no democrats campaigning on the healthcare bill, and obama gave his usual 15 minute answert to. the answer to no go. good. >> the followup on what jim said, he saidcwe can't expect healthcare to be free. of course the cost is going to go up. and if we keep it slightly higher than the rate of increase in inflation, e're doing a good job, right? >> he was concerned, he mentioned the word middle class about ten times in the course of an hour. this is his theme and the place he wants to go, and he's doing example what you guys said he should be doi and now you're ating up on him for doingt it. >> stimulus. that's a new game for reporters, get into saying the "s" word. >> and john baier. >> there are no rs to be seen. >> check
